how it works

How does it work?

Sign up online to get easy to make vegan meal kits delivered straight to your door every week.

1) Sign up online here

2) You'll receive a text confirming your sign-up, and you're in!

3) You'll start receiving weekly texts on Fridays asking if you're IN or OUT for the following week's deliveries.

4) Enjoy your plants :)

Can I pause or skip deliveries?

Absolutely! There is no commitment, we check in every week to ask if you are IN or OUT for this week’s orders. If we don’t hear from you we assume you’re OUT and will check back the following week.

Where do you deliver?

Our current delivery zone covers the Toronto downtown core.

Our delivery partner, Fresh City Farms, helps us deliver outside our current delivery zone to addresses within the GTA, including Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Brampton, Dundas, Hamilton, and parts of Markham and Vaughan.

If you live outside the GTA but frequently make trips into the city, our bags can also be picked up from one of Fresh City Farm's Pickup Hubs.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel anytime by responding 'CANCEL' to any of our texts. You will then receive an email with details of how to return the reusable bag and how to get your deposit back.

How do I return my bag?

When you leave the service we will be in contact with all the options of how to return your bag and your deposit :)

What if I'm not vegan?

That's perfectly ok! We strive to show anyone how easy and delicious plant-based eating can be even just 2 meals a week, whether you follow a vegan diet, or are simply interested in exploring different ways to incorporate more plants into your diet.

ordering

How do I place an order?

You’ll receive a text every Thursday morning at 9:00 AM asking if you would like a meal kit the following week. You have until 9:00 PM to say IN or OUT. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll send a reminder text at 8:00 PM.

Once you place an order, you’ll receive a confirmation email on Friday to confirm your order.

When is the cutoff time for ordering a meal kit?

Friday before 9:00 PM to receive a meal kit the following week. If you miss that deadline you can always contact us and we will always see what we can do

deliveries

Is there a delivery fee?

There is a small charge ($4.00) for each delivery.

We offer FREE in-store pick-up at our storefront at 476 Roncesvalles Avenue.

Do I need to be home to receive my delivery?

No! We’ll drop by and leave your bag by the door, with security, or with any specific instructions when signing up.

Do you deliver to condos and apartments?

Yes, we just need your buzzer code and unit number! If your building has a concierge, you can also coordinate with them to receive the order on your behalf. We can also deliver to your workplace.

Can I be notified of my delivery’s arrival?

We notify you by text message to confirm your bag has been delivered.

What time will my bag arrive?

We typically deliver between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm on delivery days.

Deliveries outside our current delivery zone (delivered through Fresh City Farms) are typically delivered between 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm, depending on the route & number of deliveries to be made.

Can I request a specific delivery time?

Unfortunately, no, but you don’t need to be home to accept the delivery! By not having a specific delivery time, we can create efficient delivery routes that reduce the greenhouse gas emissions required to deliver your food.

How do I change my delivery information?

If you would like to update your delivery information please click here!

How is food kept fresh?

We deliver the food in a reusable, insulated tote bag to ensure the food stays at the right temperature.

What if my delivery gets stolen (by people or animals)?

We have fed a few squirrels lol, but if it happens to you please contact info@sorryivegotplants.com.

If you are concerned with anyone (thieves or animals) getting to your bag before you do, you can update your delivery information, and give any specific instructions about a better place to leave your bag (e.g., inside a container).

Alternatively, if possible, you can have the packaged delivered to your workplace.

What if I'm missing an ingredient?

Mistakes happen, our apologies! If anything is missing, please let us know and we will happily provide you with a credit (depending on the mistake lol). Shoot us a message at info@sorryivegotplants if there are any issues with any of the ingredients in your bag.

recipes

What comes in each meal kit?

Each meal kit comes with all the ingredients you need to cook each meal, in the exact portions. The meals are partially prepared to save you time and ensure quality. Each recipe was created to be a well-balanced, delicious meal that includes a healthy balance of protein, veggies, and carbs.

To save paper, all recipes can be found online at sorryivegotplants.com/this-weeks-menu.

What cooking skills do I need to make the recipes?

Even the beginner chef can make each of the recipes and feel like a vegan Instagram star.

Many ingredients come pre-pre prepped including hand-made sauces, dressings, spice blends, toppings, etc. Some prep work is involved, including dicing, chopping, and peeling. Each recipe includes step-by-step instructions with photos to guide you along!

Just some oil for frying and salt and pepper to season.

For cooking supplies, basic cooking utensils such as bowls for mixing ingredients, pots for cooking grains, pans for frying vegetables, and pans for cooking vegetables in the oven.

How long do the meals take to prepare?

We do our best to accommodate for allergies and ensure our food is prepared safely. However, all of our meal kits are assembled in the same processing facility, and therefore we cannot ensure cross-contamination.

Where possible, we offer gluten-free alternatives for ingredients such as pasta, couscous, etc. When signing up, please let us know of any allergies and we will do our best to accommodate.

Should I return the plastic containers?

Yes please! We reuse our plastic containers over and over to keep costs and waste low. Please rinse out your plastic containers and leave them inside your empty cooler bag when you leave it out for your next delivery.

We wash all containers in and industrial-grade dish washer before reusing to ensure they are squeeky clean before they got out again.

Are the meal kits 100% zero-waste?

We aim to use the least amount of packaging possible, but unfortunately can’t claim to produce no waste.

While we collect and reuse all of our cooler bags and plastic containers, sometimes it is necessary to use plastic bags to maintain the shelf life of the produce (particularly leafy greens & bakery items). This actually ends up with less waste in the end, as the produce stays fresh longer and is less likely to be thrown out before it can be eaten.

Our meal kits only include the exact portions needed for each of the recipes, greatly reducing food waste.

We are always looking for innovative ways to reduce our waste. If you have any ideas we'd love to hear from you! Shoot us an email at info@sorryivegotplants.com, we'd love to chat!

Why are the greens in plastic bags?

While we try to avoid plastic packaging, we’ve found that some greens only stay fresh stored in the plastic bags. In these cases, we are able to prolong their shelf-life and hopefully avoid unnecessary food waste as a result of unused greens being thrown out before they can be used in recipes.

The bags are recyclable and our motto has always been to do the best we can with what makes the most sense…no one wants wilted greens in their meal kit!!!
